Shahadah & How to Become Muslim
The testimony of faith: the gateway into Islam and the beginning of your direct relationship with the Creator.
"Ash-hadu an la ilaha illa Allah, wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan rasul Allah."
I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.
What is the Shahadah?
The Shahadah is the first and most fundamental pillar of Islam. It is a heartfelt testimony affirming two core truths:
- Tawhid (Absolute Oneness of God): There is only One Creator, Sustainer, and Lord of the universe. No partners, no sons, no intermediaries. Worship belongs purely to Him alone.
- Prophethood of Muhammad (peace be upon him): Prophet Muhammad is the final messenger sent by God to guide humanity, following in the footsteps of previous prophets including Abraham, Moses, and Jesus (peace be upon them all).
How to Say It
You do not need a special ceremony, paperwork, or a mosque to become Muslim (though visiting a local mosque is wonderful for community support). Anyone who says the words with understanding and genuine sincerity in their heart is immediately a Muslim in the sight of Allah.

The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) taught: "Islam wipes away all sins committed before it." The second you embrace Islam, your record is pure and clean, just like a newborn child. All past good deeds are preserved and multiplied, while past mistakes are completely erased.
